Vélorution announces Sprockids Summer Bike Camp

For the first time in Sault Ste. Marie, Vélorution is pleased to sponsor the Canadian Cycling Association Sprockids program.

Sprockids is a program for young people to learn the skills of mountain biking in a graduated fashion.

Young people register for a 10 session program, wherein they move through a series of modules designed to enhance their mountain biking skills and simultaneously develop a sense of accomplishment and self confidence that can spill over into all areas of life.

As these young people develop their skills, they become eligible to train others, thus further enhancing their development and the development of others.

The program is a multi-tiered approach, designed to provide participants with the opportunity to experience success no matter what their riding skill level.

The art of riding is broken down into 55 skills and four program levels, taught in a graduated fashion, where each new skill builds on a previous skill.

Through the sport of cycling, 9-13 year-olds develop a strong sense of self esteem by discovering and building on the potential within themselves.

Vélorution will be hosting an open-house on Thursday, July 8 to introduce the program in greater detail and answer any questions. Parents, participants and anyone interested is invited to attend.

Details

Day Camps (10 sessions)

- Ages 9 -13 (Coed)
- Monday to Friday 1 - 4 p.m.

First Group: July 12 - 23

Second Group: August 2 - 13

Third Group: August 16 - 27

Evening Camp (10 sessions)

- Ages 9 -13 (Coed)
- Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00 -9:00 PM

July 19 - August 18

Cost: $100 includes all materials, registration and Sprockids participant package (includes progress passport, water bottle, T-shirt, sunglasses, stickers, and more!)

Registration forms can be found on the Sprockids website. Participants must complete the registration and waiver form and return them to Vélorution along with payment.
