Giant Step Forward

The HUB trail went through a few difficult weeks in early June but when all was said and done, we had unanimous support from city council which was quickly followed by a very generous budget to “get it built”.

We asked for $100,000 per year for completing the $3 million project and the mayor, along with city staff was able to convince council to approve $1 million towards the construction of the trail for this year.  We were absolutely ecstatic beyond our wildest dreams.  Being involved from day 1, it has been the most exciting achievement I have ever been involved with.

This summer we will see the completion of the Shannon Road section, the city waterfront and one of the best parts -- the trail connection from Sault College to Finn Hill.  We expect to complete the Fort Creek section next year as well as the link between Carmen’s Way and the waterfront.  I will keep you updated.
